Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have been very busy in Nursery this week. We talked in class what it means to be kind and what we can do that is kind to our friends, family and community. We then listened to the song One Kind Word, performed by Andy and the Odd Socks. We loved dancing to it and we also learned how to dance the conga. On Wednesday we had a special treat - Origami session with Mrs Howrah. She thought us how to fold paper carefully, so we can make our very own dog puppet.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid outbreak at school we had to cancel the Nursery and Reception trip to the Polka Theatre. Reception showed great resilience and understanding even though disappointed that they could not go. They had an amazing time in their homemade theatre in the afternoon instead courtesy of the wonderful imagination of Mrs Haxton-Bartlett , the hard work of Mrs L and some popcorn!
Once again the whole school came together at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month to remember those lost in war and conflict. Once again the children showed a mature respect during the 2 minute silence. Year 6 children read the two readings featured here and Reverend Daniel led us in prayer. We were also joined by parents.
On Thursday, the whole school got the opportunity to work with a real-life scientist, Dr Lisa Mullan. She is a specialist in DNA, which are all the instructions that living things have inside them. It tells us what colour eyes we get and if we end up with curly hair! She showed us how this DNA is sometimes so secret and Ramu and Katy helped her to show this with different colour liquids. Each class then had a workshop with Dr Lisa; see the reports below.
Thank you so much to FOASS for funding this wonderful opportunity for our children!
