At All Saints’ we are extremely proud of our school's high academic achievements, which ensure that our pupils move onto the next stage of their education very well prepared. Please do look at the list of Leavers’ Destinations of our Year 6 pupils in the Information section of the website, to see details of all the schools at which our children get places.
The information contained in the following tables represents the attainment of pupils at the end of the academic year 2018 2019; at the statutory assessment points at the end of the Foundation Stage, i.e. Reception; Key Stage 1 - for pupils at the end of Year 2 and at the end of Key Stage 2, for children in Year 6.
2015-2016 saw a major change in the way in which pupils were assessed and a significant ‘raising of the bar’ in terms of the statutory tests administered at the end of Y2 and Y6 and in those standards judged by teacher assessment. This new assessment expectation has continued for the 2018 2019 academic year.
We are also giving you information about the statutory Phonics Screening Check carried out in Year 1 and the re-test in Year 2.
FOUNDATION STAGE PROFILE
Attainment is shown in two ways: Good Level of Development (GLD) and an Average Score. As you can see, children commencing their statutory education at All Saints’, get off to the best possible start, achieving higher than children both in the Local Authority and nationally. The Foundation Stage data is the culmination of continuous assessment throughout the year.
End of year 2018 2019 | Good Level of Development (GLD) | Average Score |
School | 83% | 38.9 |
Local Authority | 76% | 35.5 |
National | Not yet available | Not yet available |
PHONICS SCREENING CHECK
Pupils in Year 1 take part in a Phonics Screening Check; there are only two levels that can be achieved, which are: Working Towards National Expectations (WT) and Working At National Expectations (WA). This year, the threshold mark for achieving WA was 32/40.
Although we use a range of effective strategies and methods in our teaching of Reading at All Saints’, the results below show that pupils are extremely secure in their knowledge and use of Phonics.
The check was carried out in June 2019.
| % of pupils achieving 32+ |
School | 93 |
Local Authority | 85 |
National | Not yet available |
Phonics Screening Re-test for Year 2
Should a child not reach the threshold for Working At National Expectations at the end of Year 1, they receive extra phonics support during Year 2 and are re-tested at the end of Year 2. They are also tested at the end of Year 2 if they did not sit the test in Year 1. In 2019, two pupils were re-tested, one of whom reached the threshold. The pupil has additional needs.
KEY STAGE 1 RESULTS FOR 2019
At the end of Key Stage 1 (end of Year 2), the results are reached through teacher assessment; that is assessment carried out by All Saints’ teaching staff, which is moderated across the Local Authority, to ensure accuracy and standardisation. Year 2 pupils also sat tests in Reading and Maths, the results of which were used to inform the teacher assessment judgements.
As you are aware, attainment is no longer assessed or reported in levels. This year, children were assessed as to whether they had achieved the Expected Standard (related to their age), were working at Greater Depth within that expected standard, or were still Working Towards the expected standard. The table below gives that information for the cohort as a whole.
As you can see, a higher percentage of pupils at All Saints’ are meeting the expected standard and working at greater depth compared to the average percentage for the Local Authority. Bear in mind that one child will represent 3.5% approximately

Subject | Number in Cohort | % Working at the expected standard | % Working at Greater Depth |
Reading | 28 | 93 (80) (76) | 42 (32) (25) |

KEY STAGE 2 RESULTS FOR 2019
At Key Stage 2, two sets of results are given: those from the formal SATS tests, undertaken by the pupils in May and on-going teacher assessment (TA); Writing and Science are only reported via teacher assessment.
As you are aware, attainment is no longer assessed or reported in levels. This year, pupils were given a Scaled Score for the tests taken in May and a Teacher Assessment judgement as to whether they had met the expected standard (related to their age); were working at greater depth within that expected standard, or were still working towards the expected standard. The tables below give that information for the cohort as a whole. Please note that each child in a cohort of 26 represents nearly 4% and that 100 is the expected Scaled Score for pupils at Y6.
Test and Teacher Assessment (TA) Summary
Local Authority data in brackets in red National Data is in blue (provisional)
This year’s test data was reported using a scaled score, with a scaled score of 100 or higher representing the desired attainment for the DfE. Where pupils are working at a higher level, this is indicated, although this data is not available for all subjects.
| Pupils in Cohort | % Reaching expected standard | % Working at Greater Depth | Average Scaled Score (test only) |
Reading Test | 26 | 89 (76) (73) | 73 (32) (27) | 110.7 (n/a) (n/a) |

These results only give a snapshot of the quality of education at All Saints’ but illustrates how well pupils achieve here when compared to peers in the Local Authority or Nationally.
The Average Scaled Score shows that pupils perform very well compared to both Local Authority and National figures.

Local Authority | 106 | 106 |
England Average | 104 | 105 |
Progress Scores show that pupil progress in Reading is above average, with progress in Writing and Maths being average.
