Before half-term, Y5 travelled to Hooke Court in Dorset for a week’s residential. Activities ranged from team bonding to tribal kingdom day. We learnt that whilst in a team it is important to work together and listen to everyone’s ideas. Team work makes the dream work and we saw that every day. WWI day was by far our favourite day because we learnt to understand and experience what life was like in the trenches. This included cooking food from WWI, training as a soldier and then walking through the trenches. The mud was thick and covered everyone. We even had a 2 minute silence where thanks to the activities we were able appreciate what they had been through and then planted our poppies. All 5 days were fantastic and even just being in our rooms, on the coach and singing songs added to the experience. Most of us didn’t want to leave and already miss being in the rain, sun and mud with our class. Overall, this was the best trip we have ever done and we have made new friendship and memories for life.
