  • Y3’s Report on their VR Workshop

    Sat 10 Jun 2023

Everyone wrote their own reports—we have taken bits from several of them:

Today we had a VR Workshop which is when you put on goggles and they took us back to Ancient Rome and we saw the animals they used for gladiator fights. Then we saw the inside of the Colosseum and the people were actually moving!

The workshop was fun but some things could be scary.  In the VR we were floating in the air, it was like you were going to fall.  Loads of people were screaming! We saw rich people’s houses, they had beautiful mosaics on the floor—all different colours like red, blue, brown and orange.  My favourite part was when we were in mid-air and we were going around a volcano.

The VR workshop was one of the best workshops I have ever had. We looked at what Rome looks like today and how it looked when the Romans were there.

After that we saw what a poor person’s house looked like. A poor person is called a plebeian and the rich people were called patricians.

Thank you to all the teachers who organised this special workshop and thank you to the company with the headsets and all your hard work coming to All Saints’.

  • Y6 TRIP TO TWICKENHAM BEEKEEPERS

    Fri 09 Jun 2023

On Wednesday the 7th Y6 went to the Twickenham Beekeepers Apiary and then we split into two groups.  The first group went out to see the bees and hives and the second group stayed inside. In the second group we learnt about how bees pollinate plants. They land on the plant, feed on the nectar and then subsequently rub on the stamen catching the pollen on their sticky legs; then when they visit the next plant the pollen comes off onto the stigma fertilising it. Did you know that females are the worker bees and the males are called the drones? To make a queen bee, the workers feed the female larvae royal jelly which is made from pollen and a secretion from their heads.  In the first group, they got to see the honeycomb, the queen bee and they also got to hold the male drones.   The queen bee had a tiny dot on her so we would know where she would be.  It was a great trip - one of the best we’ve ever been on! The male drones were very cute and lots of us overcame our fears!  By Xanthe, Lyra & Emily—Y6

We also had the chance for a photo-op at a famous place—do you recognise it??

On Wednesday, six Year 5 children headed to Roehampton University for the Horizons project. This time it was the Growhampton workshop in which we got to try loads of different herbs and vegetables and then we had to learn to be eco-friendly in our lives. I loved being eco-friendly and learning new ideas. We even got to meet some chickens. By Lyla & Joseph—Y5

  • Y3 trip to Fulham Palace

    Fri 02 Jun 2023

Year 3 went to Fulham Palace and discovered lots of new things about the Romans. Did you know in Roman times that Fulham was in the countryside? Fulham Palace itself was originally a Roman villa. We looked at different artefacts and tried to decide what they were. We even saw a dog footprint from 208AD. We looked at different rooms in a Roman villa including a new word we didn't know: a lararium (a shrine)! We then got to dress up as different Roman characters and create a short play to show everyone. We then had a visit around the museum and learned so many facts about Fulham Palace itself - including that Queen Elizabeth I had dinner in the Great Hall!

I liked when we performed - we got to dress up as different characters and make a short play to show everyone - Eliza
