  • SOUTHWARK LEAVERS SERVICE

    Fri 15 Jul 2022

On Friday 15th July, Y6 were invited to the Southwark Leavers’  Service, held at Southwark Cathedral for Y6 children in a Church of England primary school in the Diocese of Southwark. Here are some of our thoughts about the service:

It was very peaceful - Charlie

I enjoyed it as other schools were there. I liked the different and   interesting acts that some of the other schools  performed - Edward

It was fascinating seeing the other schools singing - Oliver

It was very emotional as I was sitting next to my best friend and it made me think how much she means to me - Franki

We were lucky as the Ocean song was written by Cooper’s uncle. There were some larger schools and it made me think how small our class was - Michael

I enjoyed as it was fun with the good songs; it was quite emotional but in a good way -Cooper

It was really interesting and very touching - Flora

  • NURSERY AND RECEPTION TRIP TO BOCKETTS FARM

    Fri 01 Jul 2022

On Wednesday both Nursery and Reception classes went to Bocketts Farm for a lovely day out. When on the farm we were lucky to be treated with a tractor ride, petting small animals, pig’s race and feeding the sheep and the cows. Later we had time to go on the playground to have even more fun. We were all very tired by the end, but we will go and do it all again if we could! So much fun!

‘I like feeding cows and the pig race - it was too funny for me!’ - Ariah

‘I loved being on the tractor ride, because it was so bouncy. I like seeing the animals, the bunnies were so little.’ - Dylan

‘I gave the sheep some food and it took it from my hand, it was tickly. I loved the cows and the pig race.’ - GG

‘I loved going on the big green slide. I liked the cows and the pig race. I liked the tractor it made me go jump!’ - Dolly

On Wednesday we went to Bocketts farm with Nursery. We went on the coach, it was good because we could play games on the way. When we arrived we looked at some animals in the big barn; pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas and donkeys. We were allowed to feed some of them and we needed to make sure we had a flat hand so they didn't accidentally bite us. Feeding them was really good! Then we saw a big bird, we all had to say "Sing Donald Sing!" and then he sang us a song! The tractor ride was so cool. It was so bumpy because of the big stones on the ground.   We ate lunch then we watched a pig race. The yellow pig won and we loved the race! We listened to the farmer telling us about pigs and we learnt that they are very clean animals, they have a 'wallow' to lay in to cool down and they have 44 teeth!  We visited the small animals and we were allowed to stroke them. We stroked them carefully with one finger. They were soft and they were sweet and they were ticklish! Lots of us liked the rat and the rabbit the best. Before we left, we went to the playgrounds and did lots of climbing and sliding together. We also got to play on a tractor. We got on the coach back to school and most of us had a little sleep on the way back - we had used up a lot of energy exploring the farm!  We had a great day and learnt lots about animals and jobs on the farm. Thank you to Olly's mum, Edward's Dad, Finn's mum and Wanda's mum for helping us on our trip!

    Fri 01 Jul 2022 By Cooper & Alfie C—Y6

On Thursday the 30th of June, Year 6 were very privileged to go to Chessington World of Adventures as part of our end of year celebrations.  Year 6 went on lots of rides including: Dragons Fury, Vampire, Croc Drop and River Raft. We enjoyed it very much.  In our groups we had lunch in various places; while in a queue, sitting on a bench.  We had a workshop on safari animals, we got to observe a variety of animals including an awesome ostrich, which was very territorial and on an occasion, showed aggression.  We ended the day and travelled back to school using public transport, everyone was extremely tired but we had the best day.

  • Faith Trail

    Fri 01 Jul 2022 By Valentina & Michael—Y6

On Wednesday, Y6 went on a faith trail to visit 3 different types of places of worship.  Y6 first visited a Mosque were we learnt about the five pillars and five times of prayer. The times of prayer vary depending on the  seasons of the year. We also learnt that Muslims believe that Allah has 99  special qualities.  Next we looked at a nearby Hindu   Mandir. We arrived just in time for the time for Lord Krishna’s fanning and the Lunch-time prayer.  We also learnt that Lord Krishna was treated like a child and that we should respect our female family members and guru (teacher).   Lastly, we went to a church. We revised the story of David and Goliath. We also learnt what different robe colours were meant for. We had a wander around all places, and had such fun!
