  • Harvest Festival

    Fri 30 Sep 2022

What a special service we had on Wednesday to mark Harvest Festival.  Huge thanks to all the children and staff for their contributions to it.  Thank you to Mr RV and the choir—their first ‘public’ sing and they did so well. Our thanks also to Revd Jane for leading, for parents and governors for helping to organise all the generous donations for the foodbank and of course to everyone who attend.

‘We made a poster for Harvest to say Thank You God for everything he worked hard to create.  I created trees because I love looking at them and find them peaceful.  By Jemima—Y3

‘It was lovely to see everybody being so kind by giving food to people who might need it’  By William S—Y3

  • Y6 Faith Trail

    Fri 30 Sep 2022 Y6

On Tuesday 27th September, Y6 took part in the Southfields Faith Trail, where we visited the London Mosque, the South London Gurdwara and the Friends (Quakers) Meeting House, as part of our RE learning about faiths in our local area. The children were all complimented on their excellent questions by all the different faith   leaders and I was so proud of how they treated each place so respectfully - true ambassadors for our school! Ms Sharp

‘We got to see three different places of worship on Tuesday. I never really knew what a Mosque looked like; I was surprised by how plain and simple it was but very calming.’  By Julianne

‘The trail was interesting because I've never been to a different place of worship before other than a church. I really enjoyed the visit with the Quakers, as    David told us lots of facts about his beliefs.’  By Edward

  • Y6 FOSSILS WORKSHOP

    Fri 30 Sep 2022

On Monday 26th September, Y6 had an online fossils workshop with Dr Amy of UCL, who is an earth scientist. We loved it, as it really brought Science to life!

‘We learnt a lot about fossils, how they were made and what happened to them over the years. We then created our own sheet to show what happens. I liked using the 3D glasses to look at the fossils!’ - Belle

‘The workshop was fascinating as I liked listening to Dr Amy telling us about the different fossils - she showed us a       megalodon's tooth! I learnt that coprolite is fossilised poo.’   By Maddie W—Y6

  • Y2 visit Buddhapadipa Temple

    Fri 23 Sep 2022

On Wednesday Year 2 took the 93 bus from the top of Putney High street to the Buddhapadipa Temple in Wimbledon.

When we arrived we had our packed lunches on the grass outside the temple. When it was time to go    inside we had to take off our shoes and leave them on a shelf outside. A monk called Phramaha gave us a tour of the temple and told us about the life of the Buddha, explained some of the symbolism and what it’s like to live in at the monastery. We then did a short meditation session with a singing bowl and we learnt how Buddhists pray. The children asked some insightful questions; we found out that there are ten Buddhist temples in London, we learnt that the roof is made of wood and we learnt how to say thank you in Thai. Phramaha also told us some of the stories that are illustrated on the temple walls. Thank you very much to the kind parent volunteers who made the trip     possible.

‘I liked going inside because it was so quiet, peaceful and you could be relaxed.’ - Yara

‘I liked all the big Buddhas. They were gold and black.’ - Henry Wat

‘I liked the paintings especially the pictures of the lotus flower.’ -  Katie

‘I liked the smell of the incense.’ - Henry Wal

‘I liked that paintings covered all the walls.’ - Lily

  • Paying respect to Her late Majesty the Queen

    Fri 16 Sep 2022

Classes in KS2 visited the church over the past two days to pay their respects to Her late Majesty the Queen.  They signed the book of condolence and took time in the peace of the church to reflect on what the Queen meant to them.

Year 6 individually wrote messages, over which they took such care. Year 4 wrote a prayer collectively with Ms Wood and then signed the book.
