Rooted in Faith, Growing through Learning

Reception

Mornings:

  • Phonics: please continue to go over the flashcards of sounds that were sent out a few weeks ago. Please use our online platform Education City ( you will see guidance on how to use this from the class teacher’s home learning plan). In the home learning plan you will also find other suggested phonics games to play with your child along with other websites that you can access.
  • Reading: read together and discussion of books. The children should also practise both lists of high frequency words in their reading records. They can also practise spelling these and writing them down.
  • Maths: use our online platforms /Timetables Rockstars/ Purple Mash /Education City, or other activities as appropriate. Remember you can put Maths into a real-life context by cooking, shopping list and receipts etc. Do look at the suggestions from class teachers to add non-platform based learning activities to your day.
  • Writing: Miss Lake will set some specific writing tasks that will be open ended, depending on your child’s writing ability.
  • Fine Motor: Children can practise simple fine motor skills at home for example building with lego, threading pasta pieces to make a necklace , colouring sheets etc.

Afternoons:

  • Topic Work (Understanding of the World): teachers will suggest activities or specific projects to complete and again suggest sources of information.
  • PE: please do make sure that you build in regular exercise opportunities; hopefully outdoor activity
